Independently operated BankCherokee is one of the oldest family-owned banks in the metro area. Serving Twin Cities’ communities since 1908, BankCherokee is a leader in local community banking. BankCherokee provides commercial and personal banking services to businesses, non-profits and individuals.
BankCherokee has had an unwavering commitment to serving its customers and communities for a century. Customers say they come back because of the warm, individual attention they receive at BankCherokee, where employees don’t just deliver products and services – they create trusted partnerships, build relationships and always look for new ways to support their customers’ businesses.
A Good Community Partner
Nearly half of BankCherokee’s loan volume over the past several years has supported real estate construction projects, helping community businesses thrive and contributing to a strong local economy.
Some of the projects BankCherokee supported through loans in the last few years include:
Renovating Health East’s Medical Clinic into Model Cities Health Center
Expanding El Burrito Mercado restaurant
Constructing Neighborhood House’s Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center for Community Building
Constructing the West Side Community Health Center
BankCherokee employees take pride in the neighborhoods they serve and are involved in dozens of community service events each year, including Paint-a-Thon, Habitat for Humanity and food/school supply drives for Neighborhood House on the west side of St. Paul.
One important niche market for BankCherokee is women-owned businesses. These owners approach their businesses in a unique way, cultivating a network of trusted advisors and partners. BankCherokee understands the unique needs of women business owners and has tailored services and other programs to serve this market. Each year, BankCherokee hosts a fall conference for women business leaders. The conference draws more than 100 local women business owners, who gather to hear presentations and panel discussions on topics important to growing their business.
BankCherokee has been focusing on the unique needs of the Latino market for nearly 10 years. In Fall 2006, the bank made a commitment to re-energize its focus on the Latino segment. BankCherokee developed a Spanish-language advertising campaign, a Spanish-language customer service center and a Spanish-speaking sales team to personally call on customers responding to the advertising campaign.
